PARAÑAQUE City Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Jr. welcomes the latest advocacy campaign of the Patrol 117 which will be held on July 3, 2009 at the San Dionisio Gym this city and vows that his administration will give his full support to the campaign which has already been implemented in eight barangays in the city.

            Spearheading the advocacy campaign is the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) NCR, the Patrol 117 Commission, the Foundation for Crime and Prevention Inc. The Patrol 117 Program was implemented by the DILG in response to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s call for a more proactive stance in preventing crime and transparency of governance.

            Patrol 117 is a nationwide emergency hotline number that people can call to in cases of emergencies ranging from crime, fire, medical emergencies and other similar situations where police, firemen, medical personnel and civilian volunteers are quick to respond to deal with the situation.

            “Preventing crime is among the top priorities of my administrations. Programs like this give our efforts a big boost as well as educate our constituents on the need to be vigilant in their respective areas to keep their neighborhood safe and secure,” Mayor Bernabe said.

            Among the topics to be discussed in the campaign are the Patrol 117 advocacy; Community Involvement in Crime Prevention; Rights of Women and Children; Drug Prevention; and Fire Prevention And Suppression.

            Mayor Jun Bernabe, San Dionisio Brgy. Chairman Arsenio Rodriguez, Jr. and Paranaque City DILG Director Teresita Fababeir will join Paranaque Police Chief P/ Sr.Supt. Alfredo Valdez, City Project Director Tomas “Jun” Banaga, Jr. DILG-Patrol 117 Commision Executive Director Marcos B. Cabautan, Jr. and Foundation for Crime and Prevention, Inc. Executive Director Arturo Alejandrino in giving their inputs to the program.

            Brgy. San Dionisio is the ninth barangay in the city to have the Patrol 117 Advocacy Program implemented.  Other barangays that already have the program are Baclaran, Don Bosco, Don Galo, Merville, San Antonio, San Isidro, Sun Valley and Tambo. (Public Information Office)
