Parañaque Holds Forum on Electricity Prices

Following the instructions of Mayor Florencio M. Bernabe, Jr., the city’s Consumer Welfare Office (CWO) has organized a forum on electricity consumption and cost on March 30, 2009 from 1pm to 5 pm at the Don Bosco Seminary, Michael Rua St., Better Living Subdivision, Brgy. Don Bosco, Parañaque City.

Dubbed “A Forum:  The Price of Our Electricity”, the symposium will tackle relevant topics including the Meralco Factor In Electricity Prices and The Cost And Effect Of NPC Privatization.

The topics will be discussed by Mr. Pete Ilagan, President NASECORE and a designated representative of the Freedom From Debt Coalition.  Added inputs will be given by resource persons from the Energy Regulatory Board, Department of Energy, Consumer Welfare and Promotions Office, MERALCO and NAPOCOR.

Other speakers who will grace the event will be Parañaque Chamber of Commerce President Mr. Alex Flores, Partido ng Manggagawa Vice President and PALEA President Jerry Rivera, City CWO head Michelle Licudine, Mayor Jun Bernabe and City Youth and Sports Development Office Program Director Benjo Bernabe.

“Consumer welfare is a priority agenda in my administration. We will continue to formulate and implement consumer-friendly programs,” Mayor Bernabe said.

Mayor Bernabe is the recipient of the Consumer Union of the Philippines Award for Most Outstanding Mayor And Public Servant for two straight years, 2007 and 2008. (Public Information Office)
